European Academy hosted an engaging online course on Proposal Writing for Research & Innovation Projects from December 4-6, 2024, bringing together participants from across Europe. Guided by Chrisa Petritsi, professional development planner and evaluator with 35 years of experience, the sessions blended insightful presentations with practical exercises, creating a vibrant learning environment that left a lasting impression.
Engaged Participants and Lively Discussions
This cohort brought a unique dynamic to the training, with many participants already familiar with Horizon Europe through project implementation. Their prior experience enriched discussions, especially during the second and third days, which delved into advanced topics such as impact planning, risk management, and designing effective dissemination strategies. Questions like, “How do we adapt proposals to evolving EU priorities?” and “What steps ensure strong consortium alignment?” highlighted the group’s proactive approach and commitment to mastering the proposal writing process.
Overcoming Challenges with Adaptability
The course addressed the uncertainties surrounding the adoption of new Horizon Europe work programmes for 2025. Despite this, participants demonstrated resilience and adaptability, focusing on strategies to navigate these challenges. The expert trainer encouraged attendees to connect with their National Contact Points (NCPs) for updates and committed to sharing new materials through the course’s e-learning space as they became available.

The workshop exercise was a standout element, allowing participants to collaborate on crafting the essential components of a strong research proposal. In this frame, attendees had the opportunity for hands-on learning and peer-to-peer interaction, ensuring the practical application of course content.
