We are thrilled to announce our active participation in the kick-off meeting of the Sustainable Project Management through PM² (SPM²) project, which took place from December 10–11, 2024, at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia. This groundbreaking initiative, co-funded by the European Union, brings together a consortium of partners dedicated to embedding sustainability principles into project management education across Europe.
A Bold Step Toward Sustainable Project Management
The SPM² project is set to revolutionize project management education by integrating sustainability into the widely recognized European Commission’s PM² methodology. Its primary aim is to prepare higher education institutions (HEIs) and vocational education and training (VET) centers to deliver training that meets the demands of a green economy. By aligning with the EU Green Deal and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), SPM² will empower future project managers to lead eco-conscious initiatives while addressing global environmental challenges.
The kick-off meeting marked the formal launch of this ambitious project, bringing together representatives from the consortium partners:
- University of Novi Sad (Serbia)
- University of Information Technology and Management in Rzeszow (Poland)
- University of Thessaly (Greece)
- European Academy (Latvia)
- Advise Institute (Serbia)
- PM² Alliance (Belgium)
- Scientific Events – PM² Center (Greece)
Over these two days, project partners discussed key objectives, work packages, and milestones. The meeting also focused on finalizing the project’s roadmap, including the development of:
- The SPM² Guide & Digital Hub, a comprehensive platform featuring tools, templates, and case studies for sustainable project management.
- A standardized curriculum and industry-aligned micro-credentials to support career readiness and employability in sustainability-focused roles.
- Dissemination strategies to ensure widespread adoption of SPM² outputs across Europe.
European Academy's Role in Dissemination and Communication

This includes crafting a compelling visual identity that communicates the project’s core values of sustainability and innovation across all communication channels.
Designing the Official Project Website: The partners are creating a dynamic and user-friendly project website that will act as the central hub for all project-related information, updates, and resources. This platform will be critical in sharing the project’s progress, tools, and outputs with a broad range of stakeholders.
Crafting the Dissemination Strategy Plan: To ensure effective outreach, European Academy and the University of Novi Sad are jointly preparing a comprehensive dissemination strategy. This plan outlines the communication approaches and tools that will be utilized to maximize the project’s reach, ensuring that its messages resonate with diverse audiences, including educators, policymakers, industry professionals, and the general public.
Launching and Managing Social Media Accounts: In today’s digital landscape, social media is an essential tool for engagement. The two partners are co-leading the creation and management of social media channels dedicated to the SPM² project. These platforms will foster dialogue, share updates, and provide valuable resources to stakeholders across Europe, helping build a community of eco-conscious project management professionals.
By co-leading these activities, European Academy and the University of Novi Sad are ensuring that the SPM² framework achieves its mission of promoting sustainable project management practices. This collaborative effort not only enhances the project’s visibility but also ensures that its innovative tools, templates, and educational resources are accessible to institutions and professionals throughout Europe.
